Posing Guide for Wedding Couples
We’ve all had it happen to us – we show up on a wedding day and as soon as it’s our time to start posing our couples, we either completely blank and can’t think of a pose or we end up using the same pose over and over again. I mean, how many times do we sit down to edit and realize we did far too many shots of the couple walking or kissing? It’s happened to us all.
We love this quick YouTube video by Phil and Sarah because it’s like a quick pocket guide to great poses. They name each one so that you can call it out to your second shooters, laugh about the pose names with you’re couples (“I call this one the…”) or even write down a small list of your favorites to look at on the wedding day.
While this guide was made by photographers for photographers, we still found it so helpful as a starting place for posing your couples. From there, look at how they interact with each other. How did they get into that pose? What did their hands do? Where did their eyes look? Did they kiss? Start them there and see how you can add motion to these moments.
